In July 2025, the bicycle path in the commune of Gurghiu was completed, a green infrastructure project that capitalizes on the route of the former railway in the area.
The track is 2.31 km long, bidirectional, and 2 meters wide. It offers residents a sustainable alternative for mobility and recreation.
The investment was made with the support of non-reimbursable funds through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with a total value of 1,346,014.83 lei, supplemented by local co-financing.
The initiative contributes to the development of cycling infrastructure in Mureș County and supports the green transition objectives adopted at European level.
